Several songs that immediately spring to mind about the power and resilience of women "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor "R-E-S-P-E-C-T" by Aretha Franklin "I'm a Survivor" by Destiny's Child and an oldie "I am Woman" by Helen Reddie.
I happen to like the song you selected and the artist :-) Hope you are well.
Joyful, I have never heard the last song or artist you mention but I liked I will survive and RESPECT...was not really a fun of I am a Survivor - I guess it is age. I am well and I hope you are keeping well too..
After leaving my comment, I went looking for some of the songs on youtube.
Here is the youtube link to Helen Reddie's song which apparently the UN selected as the song for International Women's Year back in 1975. I just learned that ;-) http://youtu.be/MUBnxqEVKlk
Woman - Raheem (favorite song). Strength of a woman - Shaggy. Stronger woman - Jewel. She's Royal - Gyptian. Superwoman - Alicia Keys. Video - India Arie (But I've learnt to love myself unconditionally, because I am a Queen - oh such powerful words! Love this song!). Work - Mary J Blige (love this song!) Just Fine - Mary J Blige (just love this woman). Enough Crying - Mary J Blige (about a woman finding the strength to move on from a bad r'ship, love it!). A woman's worth - Alicia Keys. Fighter - Christina Aguillera. Dear Mama - Tupac. Baby Mommas - Fantasia. Express Yourself - Madonna (I prefer the Glee version, faster beats). Independent women - Destiny's Child. Womanology - KRS One (Favorite rapper). Man, I feel like a woman! - Shania Twain. Beautiful - Snoop/Pharrel (made me a Pharrel fan to date). Have you ever really loved a woman - Bryan Adams (or is it Enrique? Just love this song).
How nice of you to remember the day.
